Just when you thought it was safe…okay no one thought it was safe. The thought of San Diego Comic-Con’s Open Registration for badges has been on the mind of travelers to the nerd mecca since well, the convention ended in 2014. There have been theories on when badges will go on sale, and now, the question has been answered. Just when is the Open Registration??
Comic-Con International is pleased to announce that Open Online Registration is finally here! Comic-Con 2015 Open Online Registration will begin shortly after 9:00 AM Pacific Time (PT) on Saturday, February 21, 2015.
That’s right. Only a few days separate the folks with badges from those who will rage on social media how the website caused them to miss out on tickets, or how it is all rigged so that people who went previously get tickets (not everyone gets their badges in the Pre-Sale, so that theory is out the window). In all honesty, those first few minutes of the Open Registration are some of the most thrilling moments, a rush of adrenaline that most people cannot even begin to explain. Even though we won’t be feeling that this year, gosh do we wish you that feeling.
But hold on. This is an Open Registration for badges, right? So does that mean anyone can snag a badge?
You have to have a valid Member ID from CCI to be able to participate in the sale come Saturday. You also need your registration code to be able to purchase a badge. You can find your registration code by logging in to your Member ID account and selecting the “Registration Info” tab.
The EPIC Registration landing page will open at 8:00 AM (PT) for folks wanting badges to enter their personal registration code and authorize their device to enter the waiting room. The link to the EPIC registration landing page will be sent via email at least 24 hours prior to the start of the sale. CCI, as well as the nerds here, suggest you add firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com as an approved/authorized sender to your email account. This way, there is less of a chance that the link never makes it to you, which would make us super sad to hear about happening!
We’re going to bold this next point, because it’s super important: You must authorize your registration code prior to 9:00 AM (PT) on February 21. The waiting room will close to new entrants at 9:00 AM (PT)sharp.
Without doing that, you’re out of luck. You want to increase your chances as much as possible, not destroy them!
We cannot recommend more and more all of the information that Comic-Con International puts out each year around badge sale time, and think you should read every word of it and become a badge master…scholar…you get the picture. Head to http://www.comic-con.org/cci/
