This week we will take a slight departure from our nerdy media themed food to bring you something that we all hold near and dear to our gaming hearts! Please read on to take a step back into our beloved childhood gaming rituals and step into nostalgia.

Picture this, it is midnight and you’re in the middle of an intense battle fighting off a hoard of heartless and that urge happens. You pause and look down at your stomach *grumble grumble* then you have that immediate internal battle. To play or not to play? The struggle is real,  FOOD or GAMES! Then a light bulb goes off in your head.

Foods and Vidya Games, win!

You scurry into your freezer and find it, you find the precious! Your precious pizza rolls. Delicious bites of instant pizza and you nuke them as fast as you can so you can continue to DESTROY ALL THOSE HEARTLESS, DAMN YOU INSIDIOUS NASTY LITTLE CREATU…. delicious satisfaction in the palm of your hand as you shove a handful of pizza rolls simultaneously as you kill off all the evils, pure bliss and contentment. But don’t you dare touch or take away my pizza rolls! I WILL JUMP IN MT. MORDOR TO GET MY HAND ON THE PRECIOUS!

Yes my friend you guessed right, we will be making Pizza Rolls! NO, not the instant microwave ones, but delicious and nutritious homemade ones. For God sake’s man, we’re adults and we best act like adults! We can shove pizza rolls in our face and button mash still, but first we make them delicious and from scratch, we are people not Neanderthals!

So get ready to get your ass kicked by your 13 year old self for not eating homemade pizza rolls sooner, they are THAT good!

  • 1 cup Spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1  to 1 1/2 cups diced Pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons Italian Parsley (optional)
  • Wonton Wrappers
  • Oil for frying

Step 1: Dice your Pepperoni and shred your cheese

Step 2: Combine your Pepperoni, Cheese, Sauce, and Italian Parsley(if using) into a bowl and mix, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3: Time to fill! First is get your Wonton Wrappers and lay one out on a plate. Get a teaspoon and spoon out your filling in the center of the wonton, making sure not to over stuff it. Once you have your filling in the center dip your finger tip in water and run it around the edge of the wrapper, this will help it stick together. Fold over one side meeting the center, then fold over the other side overlapping and slightly pressing.  Press together the edges to close it shut. If you would like you can trim the edges but I didn’t. Continue making Pizza Rolls and place them seam side down on a baking sheet.

Step 4: Place the Pizza Rolls into the freezer for up to 30 minutes.

Step 5: When ready to fry take out the baking sheet from the freezer and bring a pot of enough oil to 350 F. Once up to temperature slowly add the pizza rolls into pan turning them over a few time until golden brown about 2-3 minutes. Drain on plate lines with paper towel or cooling rack. Alternately if you would like to bake them, set your over at 400 F, spray a baking sheet then arrange your pizza rolls then spray the top. Bake them for 11 minutes, flipping them over at the 6 minute mark. Cook until they are golden brown and yummy!

So now you are ready to sit down and enjoy better than store bought Pizza Rolls and fight another battle! Sure they are time consuming but deliciousness takes time and effort! If you are so inclined double the recipe and make a shit ton of pizza rolls and freeze them, then when you get intense feeling of hanger pop them in the over and you are set!

  1. Love this idea. The store bought ones can have super gross additives, but you can basically put whatever you want in them this way.
