We’re two months away from WonderCon taking over Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Convention Center! Can you feel the excitement? We can! Plenty of news has emerged from CCI and WonderCon itself, which means we get to wrap it all up for you here. You ready? Let’s do this!

WonderCon Badges

Badges for WonderCon are on sale now! If you are looking to attend the convention, make sure you purchase your badge early. You don’t want to wait until the last minute and realize one of the days is sold out! Remember: No badges will be sold at the doors!

If you have more questions or just need a refresher course on purchasing badges, head to the WonderCon Badge FAQ.

WonderCon Volunteers

The chance to register as a Volunteer for WonderCon 2016 has now closed. Per the official Wondercon website:

If you were unable to secure a spot in the WonderCon 2016 volunteer program, you may check in at the Volunteer Desk onsite to see if there are any open assingments. We cannot guarantee that a volunteer assignment will be availble. Thank you for your interest in the WonderCon volunteer program!

WonderCon 2016 Masquerade

Prepare those costumes, brush up on your act, and sign yourself up for the Masquerade! WonderCon is once again presenting The 12th annual WonderCon Masquerade Costume Competition!

For complete rules, entry form, and information, head HERE to download!

The Masquerade will be held at 8:30 PM on Saturday, March 26. Seeing as this is the first time WonderCon is using the Los Angeles Convention Center space, the specific venue details have not been decided, but they ask folks to check back soon for updates!

The Masquerade is free to participate in or to be in the audience. You only a WonderCon attendee badge valid for Saturday to get through the doors. Doors will open for seating at 8:00 PM, and the event will run about 2 and a half hours. Need special seating? WonderCon has you covered. Per the WonderCon website, “Special seating will be available for the disabled, selected press approved in advance, and for special guests of the convention.”

Unlike the Masquerade for San Diego Comic-Con, audience tickets are not being used for this event, as the unannounced venue “is expected to have plenty of seating.”

So just what are the WonderCon judges looking for? Creativity is of course a must, but special WonderCon trophies will be awarded by our panel of guest judges, in the following categories:

  • Best in Show
  • Judges’ Choice
  • Best Re-Creation
  • Best Original Design
  • Best Workmanship
  • Most Humorous
  • Best Presentation

We personally have never been in attendance of the Masquerade, but hear it’s a fantastic time!

WonderCon Hotels

With two months from the event, some of the hotels have already sold out their rooms for the convention. Here is what is still available:

  • JW Marriot Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. Live  SOLD OUT
  • The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles
  • Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. LIVE SOLD OUT
  • Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. LIVE SOLD OUT
  • The LUXE City Center Hotel SOLD OUT
  • LA Hotel Downtown
  • Millennium Biltmore Hotel
  • Omni Los Angeles Hotel
  • Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown

Here is a look at what the remaining rooms look like, per OnPeak, the WonderCon Official Travel Planner:

Note that the main WonderCon website has the Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. Live listed as sold out, but the OnPeak website shows up to 2 rooms available at the time of our posting. If you want to book that hotel, do it quick!

WonderCon Special Guests

WonderCon has issued eight waves of special guests, all of which can be found HERE! Check out the list, see if any of your favorites are attending, and maybe find some new favorites in the meantime!

That’s it for WonderCon updates for now, but keep checking back as there is certain to be more news as the convention approaches!
